For this project i did my sisters Quincenera which is a big Hispanic celebration when a girl turns 15. My camera setting changed a lot because we went from inside to outside to inside. I only had some difficulty with the glare of the sun getting in my pictures but other than that I had no other issues. I used no other lighting but the natural lighting and sometimes the camera flash.
For this shoot I took pictures for my sisters court and backyard wedding. I had a little difficulty with the lighting when I was shooting at the court because there wasn’t much light and I did not have a flash. At the time of the backyard part it there was enough light to where I did not need a flash, but as it started getting dark I started having difficulties with the lighting again, but I finally got a hang of it. The subjects where pretty easy to follow and shoot as they were doing what they were doing. The things I learned for the next time I shoot a backyard wedding is have a flash in case of the lighting.
For my second project I took pictures of my sister. It was her 15th birthday so why not use her as a model. I took these pictures on my trip to Mexico at the corner from my grandmas store. I did have some trouble with my lighting only because the sun was being covered by the house, so I had to play around with my camera settings. This is the second shoot I do of my sister so it wasnt much different from the first one.
Doing this assignment was pretty fun. I didn’t have much trouble with it besides on getting ideas on what to try and draw or write. The camera setting weren’t that different from when we did writing with light so I just kept them the same. The only thing I did have trouble with was while I was taking the pictures there was lightning outside so that was extra light that wasn’t needed. I prefer writing with light other than writing with sparklers, because with the light you can turn it off and on and not have to connect everything. The reason I didnt like the sparklers was because they ran out fast and had to do everything so quick and you had to connect everything.
I didn’t do much directing. At the begging of the day she took me in to her office and asked question about what I was there to do, what we do in the photography program and just questions about what it is that I needed for the pictures. And so for the rest of my visit she went around to some classes to do walk in’s. Where she sits in the back of the classroom and takes notes on how and what the teachers is doing to teach what it is that need to be thought. The day went pretty good, but it would’ve been better if she had interacted with the kids more. I think my images came out pretty good and got some good shots with her and the kids. I didn’t have any issues with the lighting because we were usually in a room with plenty of light and windows. I didn’t do much of spray and shoot because there wasn’t much moving, I did a lot of waiting to shoot just to get the right pictures. If I got to do it again I would do more directing as in her interacting with the students and more directing on the portrait.
For my action assignment I did soccer, only because I am a soccer player and I did know where and how and exactly what was going to happen. My first two action pictures where football which is way different from soccer, so it was pretty difficult. At the beginning I could not get the players to focus and my pictures would come out blurry because of the constant moving of all the players and all the action going around. Based on my first two action post and this being my fist soccer game that I have shot I believe my pictures came out good. I did not have much issues with the lighting, I had my ISO set on auto and my camera set on sports. I didn’t do much editing besides a little cropping and changed the levels. I did do a lot of shoot and pray just because it was the first time I shot a soccer game. It was pretty fun shooting this action shoot just because of the expressions on the players faces and because it was something I have never done before.
This was a fun photoshoot to take, my sister and her boyfriend have been wanting me to take pictures of them for a while now, so this was a way to kill two birds with one stone. At first we were just doing normal and easy posses then my sister boyfriend started doing crazy flips and head stand it was pretty interesting. Now that i look at the pictures it would have been better if we had taken the pictures with a different background. I didn’t do much editing to the pictures besides some black and white, or sepia and just a little skin smoothing. I would like to take more pictures my sister and her boyfriend because I now have more ideas about what kind of pictures to take since they both like dancing and both play soccer, which would be pretty interesting to shoot.
I had a little problem taking silhouette pictures. At first I had trouble with the settings on my camera, which I had to play with and change a couple of times. After getting the settings I took my sisters and made them pose. As I first started to take the pictures I could not get it to where my person was dark, because of how the sunlight was already gone and all I had was what was left after sunset, but after a while I got it down. What I learned for the next time I take silhouettes is to go before sunset so I have more lighting in the background and go somewhere where there is nothing in the background and what my camera settings have to be in order to get the perfect picture.
